General Information:


A student must be 15 & 1/2 to get a permit and must have Drivers education and an enrollment certificate in 'Behind the Wheel' before they are eligible to take the test.

Things to take to the DMV:

  • The Certificate of Completion of Drivers Education
  • Certificate of Enrollment in Driver Training
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Evidence of Social Security Number
  • And $27

Once you pass the test you will be issued a Provisional Instruction Permit. You must have one driving lesson before you can drive with a parent or adult. You must have your permit for at least six months or reach age 18 before you can take the Drive Test. WDA offers both Drivers Education at Wheatland High School and Behind the Wheel; by appointment Sunday through Friday.

The cost is $75 for the Drivers Education and $225 for Behind the Wheel.
